This 6,127 SF, one-story brick office building in Broomfield, Colorado had great bones. Built in the 1960s it housed a Post Office until the early 2000’s when the US Postal Service consolidated to another, larger, facility.
In 2003 The North Metro Denver Realtors Association decided to relocate their main offices and classroom facilities to the site. There was an extensive amount of asbestos in the original structure that needed to be abated.
In terms of architecture, all this modern building needed was a face-lift. VaST designed the fin and awning to accentuate the existing architecture and give the building a sense of entrance and character. There was no need to change the facade by adding elements that would conflict with the original architecture, this allowed us to focus our efforts and budget on the site landscaping and interiors.
The renovation included a 645 SF addition and extensive site work and interior remodel. The building now houses offices, resource library, a small store for realtors, a sizable classroom, and is fully wheelchair accessible.
