The Walter Self Senior Housing project for the Boulder County Housing Authority was a collaborative project between architect Jim Manning and VaST. It comprises two 6-unit senior housing buildings and a 2,893 SF community building with a commercial kitchen, a residents’ room, a dining hall for the “Golden Gang”, restrooms and two offices.
Although the project was developed under the confines of a tight site and the existing guidelines of the Housing Authority, VaST managed to work in some sustainable products for this project including: durable Hardy Board and stucco siding, indigenous Lyons red sandstone, Choice Deck, natural linoleum, and blown in cellulose insulation.
